Urmila Mohan

Urmila Mohan is an anthropologist and curator of material religion and material culture with a focus on Hinduism and textiles in India and Indonesia. She is Founder and Managing Editor (2014-2019) of the Material Religions blog and an Honorary Research Fellow at University College London. Her publications include the monographs Clothing as Devotion in Contemporary Hinduism (2019, Brill) and Fabricating Power with Balinese Textiles (2018, BGC/Univ. of Chicago Press), as well as a co-edited Special Issue, “The Bodily and Material Cultures of Religious Subjectivation.” She is currently co-editing a volume with Laurence Douny on the Matière à Penser group called The Material Subject (Bloomsbury, 2020).
