Laurel Kendall

Laurel Kendall is Division Chair and Curator at the American Museum of Natural History and Adjunct Professor of Anthropology at Columbia University. Kendall has done research with Korean shamans with a special focus on gender in Korean popular religion for over thirty years. Her numerous books and publications include Shamans, Housewives, and other Restless Spirits: Women in Korean Ritual Life, The Life and Hard Times of a Korean Shaman: Of Tales and the Telling of Tales, and Shamans, Nostalgias, and the IMF: South Korean Popular Religion in Motion. She is currently Vice President for the Association for Asian Studies.
